Amphibious. The platybus can breathe air and water. Bill Boarding. At the end of the platybus’s turn, it either opens or closes its bill until the start of its next turn. Creatures can freely enter or exit its body, as described in the Part Bus trait, only when the bill is open. Part Bus. The platybus’s body contains a rectangular space that is 20 feet long, 20 feet wide, and 10 feet high that can hold up to eight Medium creatures. There are eight seats in the form of organic, fur-covered benches, and the body has panels of thinner skin through which creatures can see as though they were foggy windows. Creatures inside the space have total cover against attacks and other effects outside the platybus. They can move freely within the space but can’t enter or exit it unless the platybus’s bill is open. Creatures can force the bill open for one round with a successful DC 18 Strength (Athletics) check and must repeat the check for each round they want to hold it open. If the platybus takes 25 damage or more on a single turn from a creature inside it, a window rips opens for one round during which creatures can exit by moving through it.

Actions

Multiattack. The platybus makes three attacks: two with its hind spurs and one with its tail swipe. Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (3d4 + 6) bludgeoning damage. If the target is a Large or smaller creature, it must succeed on a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw or enter the space inside the platybus’s body described in Part Bus. Hind Spur. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 16 (3d6 + 6) piercing damage, and the target must make a DC 17 Constitution saving throw, taking 21 (6d6) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Tail Swipe. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (3d4 + 6) bludgeoning damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 17 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

Legendary Actions

The platybus can take 1 legendary action, choosing from the options below. The legendary action can only be used at the end of another creature’s turn. The platybus regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn. Move. The platybus moves up to its speed. Mutation (Recharge 5-6). All creatures inside the platybus, as described in the Part Bus trait, must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or experience a mutation. To determine the mutation, roll a d8 and use the result in the Mutations table. Each type of mutation, as distinguished by different entries in the table, is a separate curse for the purpose of undoing them, such as via the greater restoration spell. The platybus automatically uses Mutation if it goes 24 hours without using the ability.
Mutations
d8 Mutation

2 You grow a beaver-like tail, or your tail grows 1 foot longer if you already have a tail.

4 You gain a level of exhaustion that can’t be removed when you’re inside the platybus.
5 You grow a pair of eyes in the back of your head or lose a pair of eyes if you already have two.
6 You grow a second mouth in your chest that continuously babbles in a random language.
7 Your skin glows a random color, shedding dim light in a 10-foot radius.
