More hype for the old Citadel Foundation paints review (I promise it’ll happen soon).

I believe in practical testing, so naturally the first thing I did upon getting my hands on that bunch of old Citadel paints was paint a mini with them (Proofreading Kaiden here: as opposed to what you idiot what else are you supposed to do with them fucking achieve levitation why did you write dumbass shit). It’s a dwarf, from D&D as is usual lately (Castle Ravenloft board game to be specific).

Here’s the old paints.

I don’t have any skin tones from that era, so I just used modern Citadel paints rather then mix up a skin tone with red, white, and brown. I also used modern metallics as the Burnished Gold paint is unusable and and Chainmail is so unfathomably awesome I didn’t want to waste it on a mini I don’t really care about.

Blue Robes – Basecoat Mordian Blue, wash Badab Black, layer Mordian Blue, highlight in two or three stages by adding Skull White to the Mordian Blue (go very bright for the final highlight, glaze Mordian Blue/Lahmian Medium (apply three or four coats on areas that are particularly stark)
Hair – Basecoat Calthan Brown, wash Badab Black, layer Calthan Brown, highlight Graveyard Earth
Boots – Basecoat Black Undercoat, highlight 4:1 Black Undercoat/Skull White
Silver – Basecoat Leadbelcher, wash Badab Black, highlight Ironbreaker
Gold – Basecoat Retributor Armour, wash Riekland Fleshshade, layer Retributor Armour, highlight Liberator Gold (paint pauldrons with Dark Angels Green)
Skin – Basecoat 1:1 Bugman’s Glow/Cadian Fleshtone, wash Reikland Fleshshade, layer Cadian Fleshtone, highlight Kislev Flesh

Mordian Blue = Macragge Blue
Badab Black = Nuln Oil
Skull White = White Scar
Calthan Brown = Mournfang Brown
Graveyard Earth = Steel Legion Drab
Black Undercoat = Abaddon Black
Dark Angels Green = Caliban Green
