Who were the judges? Well here they are!
Keksiveli: I am an aspiring miniature painter that tries to push themself become one of the best out there. I am on a journey to become a master so that I could inspire, lead and teach others to paint miniatures with a passion. I have painted many minis, I actively follow painting competitions and compete as often as is possible. I believe that competitive painting is the fastest way to learn without a mentorships. Seeing the highest possible level of painting on display is very inspiring and analysing them is one of the keys to quick learning. Through deliberate practise, studying art and with proper feedback from the masters and peers ofcourse!

Kaiden: I am the Boss man here running the Lazy Paint Production. I have judged six other painting competitions before this and I am a professional painter.

These were the questions we let guide us through the judging. Judges tried to abstain from any precognitions, favouring of any styles or techniques and we tried to give feedback to help people grow as painters on their painting journey.
How is the overall impression of the piece? Is this piece’s painting execution been done with care and with precision? Is the technique used in a right manner and does it compliment the whole display? Are there any clear mistakes in the painting?
Has the miniature been prepped accordingly, any mold lines or gaps? Conversions and kitbashes done with care and with great quality, so that they are even hard to distinguish from the original sculptors work?
Is the miniature based so that it elevates the piece? Are the physical and painted elements arranged so that they are beautiful, meaningful and clear with their intent?
Is there a clear artistic impression, story and originality? The pieces colour choices are harmonious and suited for the theme of the subject to convey emotion and beauty? Overall composition with the colours is thought out an executed beautifully. If there are original and new ideas, are they good, create emotion intentionally and are done well?
We judged the pieces first on our own and gave them scores from 1-10 in 3 different categories. Which were: Execution of build, conversions and kit bashes. painting skill. Story and harmony. When the judging was done and numbers crunched together the winner was the piece with highest amount of points.
We also gave them verbal critiques. These then were piled together to form the critiques which were send to you directly. We tried to keep them as small as possible with the highest amount of impact possible. To help you on your journey. (if there would have been many on the same points, we would have disgussed about the rankings in detail and gone over our verbar critiques to hel us guide the judging.
Without further a do… Here are the pieces!

I’m so happy to have placed 3rd, this was my first painting competition and I was hesitant to enroll one of the models I’ve painted.
To those who are getting into this hobby just you might think your work isn’t great but just remember, it gets better.
