Contest Overview

Submission Deadline: 11:59pm US Pacific Time Tuesday 2 January 2022

Entry Subject: Any unpainted goblin mini from WizKids, Steamforged Games, Archon Studio, or Reaper. Products from other companies must be 28mm-32mm scale and have the company name in the description and we reserve the right to disqualify entries we can't verify are unpainted and the right scale.

Entry Requirements:

  1. Your submission must include before and after photos of the mini unpainted and painted, with you or a physical label of some sort listing your verifiable preferred social media handle in both pictures. You may check "Don't publish photos of me" to request we not publish those photos.

  2. You may submit up to 8 additional photos showing your mini from different angles and/or in a diorama with other minis, terrain and props. You must submit at least 1 additional photo if you requested we not publish the photos in requirement (1).

  3. Entry must be family-friendly by TTRPG standards.

Judging:

  1. Overall Painting placement will be awarded based solely on the painting quality with scores broken down for 50% painting skill, 20% creativity, 20% difficulty of the paint scheme attempted, and 10% presentation (photo quality, angles to show all of the mini, good neutral lighting, etc.) 

  2. Themed category awards are based on the "Harrowing Holidays" theme. The theme is deliberately open to interpretation.

Prizes

Winners will be announced by Jan. 31, 2022. Delays shall be communicated on this page if any occur.

For international winners, shipping of physical rewards may be cost prohibitive for us. In those cases, each physical award shall be replaced by a $20 USD electronic gift certificate (or equivalent value certificate or loyalty points) to one of the following retailers of your choice: Amazon, Reaper, Paizo, DMs Guild, or The Gallant Goblin. If you don't want a prepainted booster box as your reward, you may also opt to take the aforementioned gift certificate option instead.

First Place

  • Option to become a judge for any Gallant Goblin painting contests that start within 3 months of the winner announcements for this contest

  • Choice of 1 (in stock) Icons of the Realms,, Pathfinder Battles, or Starfinder Battles booster box 

  • 2500 ($25) Goblin Gold loyalty points to our web store

Second Place

  • Choice of 1 (in stock) Icons of the Realms,, Pathfinder Battles, or Starfinder Battles booster box

  • 1500 ($15) Goblin Gold loyalty points to our web store

Third Place

  • Choice of 1 (in stock) Icons of the Realms,, Pathfinder Battles, or Starfinder Battles booster box

  • 1000 ($10) Goblin Gold loyalty points to our web store

Each winner of a themed category shall receive 1000 ($10) Goblin Gold loyalty points to our web store and their choice of one published DMs Guild supplement we have worked on. The themed categories are:

David Cresswell is one of the founders of Band of Badgers, a TTRPG club based in the United Kingdom. He's been playing tabletop roleplaying games for over 30 years.

 

Dave produces multiple Band of Badgers programs on Twitch and YouTube, including The Great British Brush Off, a paint-along with guest stars including one skilled TTRPG painter and others of varying skill levels.

Grady Wang is one of the founders of The Gallant Goblin, a TTRPG product review and publishing company. He manages merchandise development, including the upcoming kobold plush Kickstarter.

Grady edits most of the videos found on The Gallant Goblin YouTube channel and enjoys writing. He's best known for The Gray Merchant of Asphodel, a platinum bestselling magic item supplement on Dungeon Masters Guild for 5e, and has contributed to other products including Uncaged Vol. 5 and Sirens: Battle of the Bards. He's also an instructor for the RPG Writer Workshop.

Eric Fry of FryMinis is a tabletop roleplaying game content creator focused on Dungeons & Dragons, miniatures, and improving the player experience. Based out of Dallas, TX, Eric and his wife, Julie, are recent additions to the TTRPG community. His first experience with D&D was in 1999 through the original Baldur’s Gate PC game, but he didn’t play his first actual tabletop game until 2017 in Dungeons & Dragons 5E. Eric started with Adventurer’s League as a player before quickly diving in as a Dungeon Master.
